Susanna Rahkamo, M.Sc.

Background

Susanna Rahkamo has been an entrepreneur all her life, first as a professional athlete, then as a producer and the last seven years as a consultant. Susanna, two times Olympian and world silver medallists in figure skating has learned how to set goals and what it takes to get them. She worked 15 years abroad and during those years produced live spectacles and TV shows in Germany, USA and Finland. As a producer she learned to combine the work of creative individuals in multinational project organisations. She has long experience in sports marketing first as an athlete and then as organizer of events. She has closely worked with numerous marketing departments, TV networks and production teams.

As a consultant she has helped companies in building enriching environments by working with personal development, self-leadership, creativity and innovation. The companies have gotten long lasting benefits from more motivated and energetic personnel. Her clients has varied from big telecommunication companies to non-profit organizations and small retailers.

Expertise

She is an expert in self-leadership, as well as managing creativity and renewal. She is lecturing, training teams in workshops and coaching individuals in leadership development, goal-setting and focus.

Free time

Susanna is the President of Finnish Figure Skating Association since 2005. During this time Finland has succeeded to achieve three medals with three different skaters in the ladies category at the European Championships and won two World gold medals in Synchronized skating. The ladies medals are the first medals for Finnish ladies ever. Finland also won the bid for hosting the European Championships in 2009. The Championships was big success. It got a lot of publicity, was economically profitable and Finnish skater won the championship.

Susanna is a board member of Finnish Olympic Committee. She was asked to join a work group set by the Finnish Sport Minister, Stefan Wallin to build the strategy for world-class sports in Finland until the 2020.

She shares her free-time with her husband and two children. Together they like to ski, do sports, visit theatres and galleries.
